Luxury Coastal Escapes has full management of the Whitefoord Beach House Estate, overseeing all aspects of its operations and ensuring the highest standards of service and maintenance. As part of our management responsibilities, we oversee all staff on behalf of the owners, ensuring seamless coordination and exceptional guest experiences. All personnel working at Whitefoord Beach House will report to Luxury Coastal Escapes. However, Thala, the Senior Housekeeper, will serve as the onsite manager. In this role, she will be responsible for managing the staff on-site, overseeing daily operations at the house, and acting as Whitefoord’s onsite manager to ensure the estate runs smoothly and efficiently.


Role Summary


The Senior Housekeeper will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of housekeeping operations, ensuring the property is maintained to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and readiness for guest arrivals. This includes managing and performing routine cleaning, deep cleaning, and the preparation of rooms and amenities, while ensuring all linens, towels, and supplies are well-stocked and organised. They will conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, report issues to the property owner, and coordinate timely repairs and services. Additionally, the Senior Housekeeper will ensure seamless guest experiences by addressing housekeeping-related requests promptly, maintaining clear communication with both guests and the property owner, and upholding high standards of service and attention to detail at all times.


Guest Interaction and Conduct


The Senior Housekeeper plays a key role in creating a memorable guest experience. A respectful and professional approach to guest interaction is required at all times. Guests are reminded to treat staff with the utmost respect, reflecting the values and high standards of the property.

Skills & Requirements


Key Responsibilities:

1. Housekeeping and Cleaning Duties

  • Conduct and oversee all cleaning tasks to ensure the property is immaculate, including:

  • Tidying living rooms, kitchens, halls, and bathrooms.

  • Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.

  • Making beds, refreshing linens, and restocking guest amenities daily.

  • Washing dishes in the morning and before finishing the day.

  • Ensuring bedrooms and common areas are clean and welcoming.

  • Perform light daily upkeep and deeper cleaning between guest stays.


2. Property Management and Reporting

  • Inspect the property regularly to ensure everything is functioning properly and address any issues promptly.

  • Report maintenance needs for systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances to the property owner, ensuring timely repairs by professionals.

  • Monitor the condition of household equipment and coordinate maintenance or replacement as needed.

  • Keep the property stocked with necessary supplies, including cleaning products, toiletries, and guest essentials, and ensure cleaning equipment is in good working order.


3. Guest Experience

  • Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring the property is guest-ready upon arrival and remains tidy and inviting throughout their stay.

  • Perform evening turn-down services during guest stays, including:

  • Closing windows, doors, and curtains.

  • Setting a calming ambiance with bedside lights.

  • Tidying and resetting common areas.

  • Assist with special guest requests or events, ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience.


4. Leadership and Coordination

  • Act as the main point of contact for all housekeeping matters.

  • Manage and train additional housekeeping staff, if required, to maintain the property’s high standards.

  • Establish cleaning routines and ensure efficient operations during busy periods.


5. Open-Ended Duties

  • Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to ensure the smooth running of the property.

  • Remain flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the property and its guests.


Work Schedule and Overtime

  • Core Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (2.5 -hour lunch break in between shifts).

  • Overtime Policy: Weekend Hours During Guest Stays: Saturday and Sunday overtime at R390 per day, hours same as above.


If you work on your designated off days (weekends), this will not accumulate as additional off days but will instead be compensated as above.
