The Keepers Workshop is a dedicated training programme for the housekeepers, caretakers and house staff who care for the homes across the Luxury Coastal Escapes portfolio. As the people who look after our properties each day, you play an essential role in creating the exceptional guest experience that defines our brand.
This workshop has been designed to bring our team together to strengthen our knowledge, refine our skills and ensure that every home is cared for to the same high standard. Through practical training, demonstrations and shared learning, we will focus on the details that set Luxury Coastal Escapes apart, while encouraging teamwork, professionalism and pride in the work we do.
Training & Development Workshop
Our 2026 Keepers Workshop has been carefully designed to equip every member of our housekeeping and property care team with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to maintain the exceptional standards expected across the Luxury Coastal Escapes portfolio.
This year's workshop will focus on the following key areas:
Theory & Knowledge

Property knowledge and understanding the unique features of each home.

Hygiene standards and preventing cross-contamination.

Security procedures and safeguarding our homes, guests and colleagues.

Basic first aid and the correct use of fire extinguishers.

Teamwork, communication and working together to achieve consistent excellence.
Practical Training
The practical sessions will provide hands-on demonstrations and opportunities to practise the techniques expected in every Luxury Coastal Escapes property, including:

Professional cleaning techniques and best practices.

Bed making to our luxury hospitality standard.

Effective stain removal methods for a variety of surfaces and fabrics.

Organising and presenting guest spaces to create a welcoming and luxurious environment.

What Will Be Included in the Workshop?
Our annual Keepers Workshop is designed to be informative, practical and engaging, ensuring every member of our property care team leaves feeling more confident, knowledgeable and equipped to uphold the Luxury Coastal Escapes standard.
Workshop Schedule
The day will follow the approximate programme below:

Welcome and workshop introduction.
Theory Session (Approx. 2 Hours)
Topics will include:

Refreshment Break (30 Minutes)
A light meal and refreshments will be provided.
Practical Skills Refresher
Hands-on demonstrations covering:

Luxury bed making.

Stain removal techniques.

Organisation and presentation standards.
Safety Demonstrations
Practical demonstrations and confidence training in:

Fire extinguisher use and fire safety.

Basic first aid.

Safe gas cylinder handling and confidence training.
Course Completion

Certificates presented to all attendees.

Individual staff profile photographs taken.

Workshop concludes at approximately 14:00.
Certification
This is a certified annual training course. Every attendee who successfully completes the workshop will receive:

A Certificate of Attendance.

Practical skills and knowledge to apply within their role.
Workshop Locations & Dates
To make attendance as convenient as possible, the workshop will be offered at two locations.
The exact location will be confirmed one week prior to the workshop, as this will depend on availability.
19 October 2026: Simbithi Workshop
The Simbithi workshop will be hosted at a home within Simbithi Eco Estate. The exact venue will be confirmed closer to the workshop date.
Staff may make use of the Simbithi staff shuttle where available, or owners may arrange alternative transport.
20 October 2026: Sheffield Beach Workshop
The Sheffield Beach workshop venue will be communicated closer to the date.
Transport to and from this venue will need to be arranged by the owner or staff member.
If a staff member is unable to attend the workshop at their allocated venue, they are welcome to attend the alternative workshop date at the other location.
Workshop Fee
Cost: R380 per person
(This fee does not apply to staff employed under our Fully Managed Homes portfolio.)
Owners may either:

Pay the workshop fee upfront; or

Have the amount deducted from their next booking payout.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do staff need to attend both workshop dates?
No. Both workshops cover exactly the same training content. The two dates are simply offered at different locations for convenience.
What should staff wear?
Staff should attend in their Luxury Coastal Escapes uniform where possible.
If a uniform is not available, please wear plain, neutral-coloured clothing suitable for a professional profile photograph. Plain black or plain white clothing is preferred. Please avoid patterned clothing or large logos.
What does the R380 workshop fee include?
The workshop fee includes:

My staff member attended last year's workshop. Do they need to attend again?
Yes. This workshop is compulsory each year to ensure that all staff remain up to date with Luxury Coastal Escapes' standards, procedures and best practices.
Do gardeners and caretakers also need to attend?
Yes. The workshop is open to all house staff across our portfolio, including housekeepers, caretakers, gardeners and other property support staff. Everyone plays an important role in delivering the Luxury Coastal Escapes standard.
Do owners need to attend the workshop?
No. The workshop is specifically designed for our housekeepers, caretakers, gardeners and other house staff, allowing them to learn, ask questions and participate in the practical training in a comfortable and supportive environment.
The workshop will be presented by Irvin Ndlovu, Luxury Coastal Escapes' Hospitality Coordinator, who works closely with our house staff across the portfolio.
To ensure every attendee fully understands the training, the workshop will be presented in English and translated where required into isiZulu, Sesotho, Sepedi, Setswana, siSwati, isiNdebele, Tshivenda, Xitsonga and Shangaan.
Owners are therefore not required to attend, as all training, demonstrations and communication will be delivered directly to the staff throughout the day.

The workshop will be hosted at one of our homes in Simbithi or Sheffield Beach, allowing the team to work in a real home and gain practical experience through a live demonstration.
